Us Tour

We have been driving all together around 20000km.
Through snowy mountains , green-valleys, redwood forest and desserts.
Redwood forest were breathtaking, we had to stop and explore like kids.
Driving from Phoenix to SanDiego was one of the most amazing drives and the view changed within just a few hours. On our way to Phoenix we drove by the Mexican border while staying over night in El Paso, the city lights from Juárez where overwhelming and endless. In the morning there where big snowy mountains and it was freezing but clear.
The scenery gradually changed to big rocks and then desserts looking like a cliché from a cartoon with big cactuses and bushes. Quite exotic nature for us Swedes. After a few hours came the sandy dessert which was one of the most beautiful views Ive ever seen, then there were these big stoney mountains.
Our drive would be in length almost around half of the earth width.
In the past I have gotten the question -Do you feel changed from seeing so much of the world. I often answer that unfortunately I end up seeing a venue a hotel and If Im lucky some of the city.
But the earth seems more fragile to me after seeing these landscapes and cities so close back to back.
So...lack of natural resources, poverty, climate change, economic crises restoring wildlife feels like alot to worry my mind about when all I want to do is make music that takes you to another place.
After this tour which surely is one of the toughest yet most inspiring Ive done I do feel concerned in another way. Not just from my gut feeling which obviously isnt much to brag about when you have expert scientists all around the world telling us how we need to be concerned. But seeing these different landscapes does make questions pop up like.....how much water is used to keep feeding all this crop in a dessert, why do Californians drive big cars by themselves, Out of curiosity how much would it cost to build better public transport in the US... , how long would it take for it to pay of... and what can we do to preserve our nature and still feed our growing population of people.
World population has grown 3 times as much within the last 50 years thats what I read in national geographic, limited Edition State of Earth 2010!
Great mag!
I think alot of people like myself are dealing with ways to try to change there habits. Trying to recycle more. Stay informed.
As I get on the plane home and start reading the biggest swedish daily paper the first pages are about a demonstration in Denmark with thousands pressuring the government to act on climate change, on how to celebrate a climate friendly christmas by not buying frost for the trees glass balls instead of plastic, recommending folks to feast it vegetarian to recycle more etc. next pages are about research in bio diesel.
As a small country I feel Sweden does take responsibility in trying to inform its citizens about all that going on outside in the big world around it. I wouldn't say Swedish media is flawless but it strives to give a neutral informative perspective.
well enough said for today ...
finally home for a couple days....check out my pics

Hey hey hey

So the touring for 2009 is coming towards its end.
Its been a good year for us!!!!
All the long drives, crazy people, great shows, bad shows, the living in a suitcase has ceased for a winter beak.
At home its christmas madness. I almost forgot.
Not really into it christmas, but looking forward to seeing my family!
So exited to just come home drink tea write new songs in the studio with the guys. I feel inspired. I have some ideas.
Its funny I was talking to Håkan today about how bizarre it feels that people have come out to see us! Come to hear our songs that we made in our messy old hand made studio. Constant Surprises was one of the first songs that I recorded with Håkan in his room with a cold laying down in the sofa. I wrote the lyrics for Twice quite fast and recorded it directly, didnt think it was good enough afterwards and wasn't sure if we should put it on the album. All the drama we have gone through with our label since our debute etc. Its been a journey for us and also for me to feel confident about my writing. To finally be singing songs that Ive written myself!
When I was in 7th grade in sweden my music teacher thought I should sing jazz songs because he thought my voice would suite it. I really wasnt into jazz at all at the time. I was listening to prince everyday in my room after school dancing in front of the mirror. I did aspire at one point to get into some music school but never got in. ( I think that was a good thing for me.)
I just wanted to sing so badly if any of my friends would ask me to sing on there albums I would do it. Thats why sometimes I mentally cringe when people come up to me and say oh I love that song you did with forex Swell Session. Nothing against Andreas in Swell Session but honestly I was 17 singing someone elses lyrics and melodies with pretty strict instructions of how to sing it.
Its hard for me to relate to alot of recordings I have done as a guest vocalist. But those are my personal issues.
Guest singing with Koop was a big deal for me, they had a big following and I gradually got over my shyness on stage from touring with them.
I started surviving on my music (almost)unlike Håkan Erik and Fred who were hustling at home. Thanks to Koop I was able to afford some more proper recording gear and the guys started building a studio that was less like a pile of stuff taking up a part of our rooms.
Anyway one thing led to another. Cant wait to get home to the studio. Thanks to all of you who came out to our shows danced with us or bought our records...........
peace peace peace

Danzig

Played @ House of Blues- Pontiac Garage...so downstairs on the big stage Misfits are playing!
Not with all the original members ofcourse, Glen retreated from the band in the 80´s already.
This does make me nostalgic even though I never was into them, I had some close friends in junior high who were serious Misfits heads. Even though I secretly listened to Prince in my room I became a gothic girl at the age of 13.
Me and my best friend Anna Roxenholt were the dark force in our class with broken stocking on our arms and yea I wont get into it.
Anyhow so Misfits.... makes me think of Danzig who I used to listen to...so this one is for old times sake.

Dear Alexander Mcqueen!

Man your dresses are amazing, but I truly cant afford them.
If you got any left over getting dusty in some corner please let me know!
I love your work your dresses are like sculpture!
By the way why are no top brands in high fashion making any clothes Fairtrade or thinking about sustainable materials.
I mean Channel forexample will sell a white t shirt way over production costs just because its the brand it is....its not like they would loose money . Just curious...Im sure your considering alternative ways.
I have a friend who has a little clothing brand in Gothenburg called DEM, they are struggling to survive with strong ideals about workers writes etc. My friend Karin she will go to Srilanka where she gets her jens fabric made organic.
Growing organic cotton is not simple since the plant easily takes on bugs if your not using pesticides and its very labor intensive but its still a better alternative. We had some of our merch shirts made in Bamboo... the fabric feel incredibly soft and apparently bamboo grows fast and is a quite good environmentally friendly alternative.
Well Im no expert but thats what Ive heard.
My friend Karin has talkt alot to me in the past about why she got into the business and her passion for human writes it fascinates and inspires me.
Anyaway good luck with your spring collection its beautiful. Im a fan!
Ok gotto sound check now!
Peace and Love

Taken by the Trees/ My Boys

I love this song so much,it gives me goose-bumps! And was really happy to hear Taken By the Trees wicked version of it!!

There isn't much that I feel I need
A solid soul and the blood I bleed
But with a little cat, and by my spouse,
I only want a proper house

I don't care for fancy things
Or to take part in the freshest wave,
But to provide for mine who ask
I will, with heart, on my father's grave

On my father's grave
(On your father's grave)

I don't mean to seem like I
Care about material things,
Like a social status,
I just want
Four walls and adobe slats
For my boys

Yayoi Kusama

Yayoi Kusama obsessed with her polka dots.
"infinity nets," as she called them.
Yayoi Kusama said about her 1954 painting titled Flower (D.S.P.S),
"One day I was looking at the red flower patterns of the tablecloth on a table, and when I looked up I saw the same pattern covering the ceiling, the windows and the walls, and finally all over the room, my body and the universe. I felt as if I had begun to self-obliterate, to revolve in the infinity of endless time and the absoluteness of space, and be reduced to nothingness. As I realized it was actually happening and not just in my imagination, I was frightened. I knew I had to run away lest I should be deprived of my life by the spell of the red flowers. I ran desperately up the stairs. The steps below me began to fall apart and I fell down the stairs straining my ankle."
